Snow White progress

My sister-in-law asked me for Snow White for her Christmas present, as she enjoyed the one she received last year, happy me. So this is a progress shot of the image.

As you can see, the colors are a little dull, and I've still a lot of digital painting to do, but the colors will be tweaked after most of the digital painting is complete.

Fall Reading List

I don't normally post non-artsy things on my art blog, but as this is really my little corner of the internet, I figured I would add a bit more of myself on here.

I love reading or listening to audiobooks, which is essentially reading for the ears. :) I wanted to compile a list of books I want to finish for Fall/Winter reading. There have been books recommended to me by friends that I've been needing to read, books I've stumbled across that look interesting, and of course books that are raved about that I just haven't picked up yet. So here's the list!

  1. Finish "One Grave at a Time" (Night Huntress Series) -Jeaniene Frost
  2. Start the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris.
  3. Start and finish the Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks.
  4. Finish the Mortal Instruments series.
  5. Neverwhere by Neil Gaimen

           ...to be continued...

Another study.

A study based off of the previous one I did below. I colored this one, instead of focusing on grayscale and getting a decent blend of skin tone.

I can already tell I'm going to need to darken some areas to really make it pop, but I'm really liking how it's turning out.

Update:

Another study and a halloween in progress pic.

A study. Quick, really concentrating on the eyes.

A new Halloween pic since it's close! Candy and fun will ensue!

Working on school projects, need to get away for a second.

When I work on a project for a long while I take breaks, and what better way then to draw! I've never really drawn myself, but I feel like I should start; why not?!

Me working on my stuff.

Here are a few more doodles for the 2D game I'm working on.

Just practicing tonight. Needed a break from animating so I decided to doodle and gesture. No references were used.

First Animation

My first ever animation was done in 2004 before I knew I wanted to be an animator. :)

Updates and present from Glen Keane

I've been working a lot on my 2D II animation stuff and working on my sister-in-law's wedding stuff.

I'm working on the wedding program tonight since the wedding is in...oh, a few days. SO! with that is a lot of pressure to get my roughs done as well. The agreed to plan is to get half of my roughs done by Thursday...so tomorrow. Not sure how well that's gonna go, but hey, that's what being an animator is all about; lots of work on a tight schedule.

Helping me is the great Glen Keane. No, he's not helping me personally, but his youtube videos are a treat when trying to just get back to the basics. I tend to over think things and it's a huge flaw of mine as it prevents me from getting any actual work done, or worse getting tons of work done, but no progress. So! Glen Keane to the rescue!

He's here to rescue you too. :)

Helena Bonham Carter studies

Studies of Helena Bonham Carter for a class. We're working on a project where caricatures are involved so I'm practicing painting the real thing to find out what her face is actually shaped like. That will in turn help me which parts to accentuate and play down.

My first few attempts at her. I'll be trying to capture her specifically from Fight Club.

Crown for Banner

I'm making a banner for my sister-in-law's wedding so I thought I'd post since it's extremely late, and I'm finally done! The only thing that I might change are the emeralds to be sapphires since her main color is a navy blue.

This was done in illustrator since it can be scaled without having any quality issues. This probably took me, roughly 3 hours.

Jasmine finished!

My finished piece for my sister-in-law. Now all I have to do is print and frame it! Yay!!!
